Turkey’s industrial production falls by 1.4 percent

TURKISH_ECONOMYTurkey’s seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production fell by 1.4 percent compared with the previous month, while annual industrial production rose by 5.2 percent on annual basis, according the data released by Turkish Statistical Institute, on Friday.

According to the main industrial groupings classification, the largest decrease was in durable consumer goods by 4.7 percent in August, compared with the previous month.

In the sub sectors of the manufacturing, the highest fall was in basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations production by 25.9 percent, followed by other transport equipment production by 14.8 percent and electrical equipment production by 11.3 percent in August, compared with the previous month.

In the sub sectors of the manufacturing, the largest increase was in repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 13.9 percent, followed by manufacture of furniture by 7.2 percent and manufacture of leather and related products by 6.1 percent in August 2014, compared with the previous month.

Calendar adjusted industrial production increased by 5.2 percent compared with the same month last year, up 11.3 percent at mining and quarrying sector and up 7.7 percent at electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index, while the rise at the manufacturing industry stood at only 4.3 percent, over the same month last year.
