Turkey: A global player in world tractor market
It was announced by the Turkish Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Manufacturers Association (TARMAKBIR) that one out of every 3 tractors produced in Turkey had been sold to the USA known as the major source country of tractors.Chairman TEKBAS stated the total figure by the end of the year could surpass 15,000 pieces.
TEKBAŞ also said the sector expected to achieve an export figure of US$ 600 million in 2012. He went on to say 320 million dollars of this amount was to be generated from tractor sales, 240 million dollars from sales of equipment and 40 million from tractor spare parts. He also mentioned that USA, Iraq, Italy, Azerbaijan, Polamd, Germany, France, Morocco, Bulgaria and Algeria were among the top ten countries with highest importation figures from Turkey. (20.12.2012)

TÜRK TRAKTÖR which is the leading production company in the sector produces 50,000 tractors annually and exports 25 percent of its total production. The 2 production facilities of the 64 years old company are located in Ankara and Erenler (Sakarya province).
The company has the largest tractor market share in Turkey and it produces brands such as New Holland, Case IH and Steyr which is sold abroad. The company which started to export in 1979 currently exports to more than 130 countries.
