Report: Turkey Consumer Price Index, February 2014

As reported by TUIK Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.43% in Turkey, in February 2014.

A rise in general index was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 0.43%, on December of the previous year by 2.41%, on same month of the previous year by 7.89% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 7.60% in February 2014.

The highest monthly increase was 2.29% in transportation

The indices rose for hotels, cafes and restaurants 1.42%, for furnishings and household equipment 1.33%, for miscellaneous goods and services 1.14%, for health 0.76%.

Monthly decrease was observed by 5.06% only in clothing and footwear

In February 2014, the index declined only for clothing and footwear amongst the main groups by 5.06%.

The highest annual increase was 12.68% in transportation

Hotels, cafes and restaurants (11.72%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (10.05%), education (9.87%), recreation and culture (7.60%) were the other main groups where high annual increases were realized.

The highest monthly increase was 1.09% in TRA1(Erzurum,Erzincan,Bayburt)

The highest increases in CPI were recorded in TRA2 (Ağrı, Kars, Iğdır, Ardahan) region (3.75%) compared with the December of the previous year, TRA1 (Erzurum, Erzincan, Bayburt) region (9.81%) compared with the same month of the previous year and in TRC1 (Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Kilis) region (9.31%) on the twelve months moving averages basis.

In February 2014 within average prices of 432 items in the index, average prices of 43 items remained unchanged while average prices of 274 items increased and average prices of 115 items decreased.
