AKP-DAVUTOGLUTurkey’s Justice and Development Party (Ak Parti /AKP) has won back its parliamentary majority to form a government alone, according to general election results already announced.

With 100 percent of the votes counted, the AKP was on 49.4 percent of the vote. The main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) was on 25.4 percent, while the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) was on 12.00 and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) was on 10.7 percent, just above the 10 percent threshold needed to enter parliament, as reported by state-run Anadolu Agency.

Based on  these results AKP has won 316 seats in the parliament good enough to rule without the need for a coalition government.

Pro-Kurdish HDP (People’s Democratic Party) party hardly managed to stay over the threshold of 10 percent receiving 10,4 percent votes. If HDP had not passed the threshold, AKP would have had the required parliamentary votes to change the constitution which in return would pave the way to a presidential system (and even a regime change) as targeted by the president.
