indesitIndesit to focus on emerging markets, plans strong growth in Turkey

Italian white goods producer Indesit has announced plans to expand its presence and market share in Turkey, the second fastest growing economy in the world.

Indesit’s future plans are based on organic growth in emerging economies such as Turkey, Indesit’s Commercial Area Director Central and Eastern Europe, Michele Casamassima said in a press meeting in Antalya. Unlike Turkey’s strong performance, European economies show little or no sign of growth, so the focus has shifted to Turkey, he added.

“Turkey is one of the key markets of the region and responsible for one third of Indesit’s growth in Eastern Europe. In this regard, we plan to double the number of our retailers in the country,” the Indesit official went on to say. The company plans to invest EUR 65 million and will create employment for 5,000 people in the process.

Known for its refrigerator and domestic appliance brands Ariston and Hotpoint, Indesit commands 8 percent of the Turkish white goods market. The company’s largest refrigerator factory in Europe is located in Manisa, Turkey.
