DEIK organizes business dinner for Turkish ambassadors, at Marriot Hotel in Ankara

DEIK organizes business dinner for Turkish ambassadors, at Marriot Hotel in Ankara

A Business dinner organized by DEIK took place as part of the 8th Annual Ambassadors Conference in Ankara.

The Turkish ambassadors who work abroad were hosted by DEIK (Foreign Economic Relations Board) at JW Marriot Hotel on which occasion Mevlut Cavusoglu (The Minister of Foreign Relations), Mustafa Elitas (Minister of Economy) and Cihad Varol (Deik Chairman) delivered speeches at the event.

Mevlut Cavusoglu, The Minister of Foreign Relations who addressed the guests said Turkey had to accomplish an export target of USD 500 billion to reach its 2023 targets. He added Turkey needed to search for new markets and bring new investors to the country. He also said businessmen who wanted to make investments in this country should be supported.

On the other hand Mustafa Elitaş mentioned that Turkey had gained momentum since 2003 and become a country aware of its strength, taking advantage of its resources. He did not fail to add however that Turkey’s current potential and capacity were not capable of handling a new move. Elitaş said Turkey needed to proceed with a different type of structuring and target production of high technology products.

Omer Cihad VARDAN who also addressed guests at the reception said 63% of business councils had gone through a major change in their board members and presidents and DEIK too had experienced new organizational & structural changes. Mr. VARDAN also added that the number of DEIK members had increased by 50 percent in 2015.

Mr. Mithat YENIGUN, the President of Turkish Contractors Union who also made a speech said the sector had accomplished projects worth USD 320 billion in 150 different countries so far.

And finally Mr. Mehmet BUYUKEKSI the Chairman of Turkish Exporters Union expressed that 2015 had been a difficult year with exports shrinking by 8,7 percent.
